Central Railway suburban railway network has played a pioneering role in socio-economic growth of the city of Mumbai and also heralded the advent of mass rapid transit system in India. Suburban railway system of Mumbai, one of its kind in the world is the most unique railway system transporting millions of commuters to every corner of the city. This Suburban railway system known is the Life-line of the City.
Mumbai Suburban Network of Central Railway carries approx. 4.5 million passengers every day (pre-covid) over 80 stations through its 1810 services daily . Besides, 40 suburban services are also run between Pune and Lonavala.
The total 1810 services include 56 AC EMU services on CSMT-Kalyan Main line.
